Police say they have shot and killed the suspected shooter. Officer caught up to the suspect in the 4100 block of Turner. During a chase, one officer shot and killed the suspect. EARLIER:
A suspect is on the loose after shooting a woman and her teenage daughter Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 1 PM at a home in the 4600 block of Tennessee Ave. A mother and here daughter were rushed to the hospital. The mother was pronounced dead, but the daughter is in stable condition and expected to survive.

SWAT teams were called to the home and they surrounded the residence. Police believed the suspect was in the house, but a search revealed he had fled the house.

This is a fluid situation and we will update you as we have more information.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A man is in custody in St. Louis, accused of beating his girlfriend to death with a baseball bat.

Police say the crime happened Thursday evening. The 71-year-old suspect's name has not been released.

Police say the man was arguing with his girlfriend, 54-year-old Carolyn Richardson, then struck her in the head several times with the bat. Richardson was pronounced dead at a hospital.

An explosion rocked a South County neighborhood this week. St. Louis County police now say they have a suspect in custody.

Police responded to a blast on Tesson Ferry in Sappington Wednesday night after people reported damaged. The suspect allegedly placed the explosive device outside of an Avon store, then walked into a nearby bar.

Police say the man resisted arrest, but was taken into custody. No motive has been announced.

SAVERTON, Mo. (AP) - Juveniles are suspected in a series of fires at a tiny Mississippi River town in northeast Missouri.

Ralls County and state investigators say three fires over the past four months at vacant homes in Saverton were intentionally set by youngsters. The Hannibal Courier-Post reports that the names and ages of the suspects, and the number of them, were not released.

The matter has been turned over to juvenile authorities.

Saverton is an unincorporated town of about 75 residents near Hannibal and about 100 miles north of St. Louis.

A senior citizen's was stabbed death overnight, now that woman's niece is in custody while police question her about the murder.

The woman's body was found inside her North County apartment this morning by a maintenance worker. Police say she had been stabbed several times. Fox 2 reports that the niece, who lives with the woman, was sitting in the apartment acting like nothing happened.

The woman has been identified as Bernice Winston of Ferguson.

A woman accused of robbing a smoke shop last weekend made off with only $7.50, but she now faces a huge bail.

Police say 29-year-old Lori Sisak robbed the cashier at knifepoint on Saturday night, but the employee claimed she could not open the cash drawer without a purchase. That is when Sisan allegedly grabbed coins from a tip jar. She is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Police say man robbed ATM, sped off on ATV

A suspect remains at large after robbing two tellers who were working on an ATM machine in Maryville, Illinois and then driving off on an ATV.

The robbery happened at the First Collinsville Bank just after 10 this morning. The man was dressing in camouflage when he drove up to the ATM, stole several canisters filled with cash and sped off. Maryville Police are handling the investigation.

A woman who allegedly stole items from several Sam's Clubs then sold them on eBay, faces federal charges.

Authorities say that Tammy Baggio stole from Sam's Club locations in several states, including stores in St. Louis in St. Charles, between February and August of 2012. Baggio would post the stolen items on eBay. If convicted, she could serve up to five years in prison and faces fines up to a quarter million dollars.

Prostitute found murdered in East St. Louis

A woman is found dead in East St. Louis, police say she was shot in the face. The Illinois State Police are assisting East St. Louis in the investigation of the city's third homicide this year. The victim is a 29-year-old woman and she was a known prostitute. Police do not have a motive or suspect at this time.

Unique gait gives away burglar

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) - The eastern Missouri burglar busted by the peculiar hitch in his get-along has been sentenced to probation.

Wentzville police arrested 21-year-old David Moore in November for smashing through a glass door at Nu Way Concrete Forms and taking nearly $1,500 in cash.

Surveillance video showed the burglar pointing his toes outward as he walked. Surveillance tape shot four days earlier during business hours showed a man with the same walk. Employees had been suspicious of that man because he wore a heavy coat and gloves on a warm day. They wrote down his license plate number.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Moore pleaded guilty to burglary and theft Monday. In addition to probation he must serve 60 days of shock time and pay back the stolen money.
