Former Missouri Congressman Todd Akin's comment about legitmate rape during his campaign last year for US Senate is now a part of a television drama.

Wednesday night's episode of Law & Order's SVU features a female sports reporter who is raped by a co-worker, becomes pregnant, but decides to keep the child.

You may recall Akin's comments on rape and abortion during his run for US Senate were made in an interview with Fox 2's Charles Jaco. Akin says,"First of all, from what I understand from doctors, if it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

The television show promo announces, "Ripped from the headlines, words that set off a national controversy..."

The episode features the rapist being tried for the crime. An "expert" witness is then seen uttering Akin's comment.

The episode airs Wednesday night at 8 on KSDK Channel 5(NBC).

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court is raising the prospect that it will find a way out of the case over California's ban on same-sex marriage without issuing a substantial ruling on whether gays have a right to marry.

Several justices, including some liberals who seem open to gay marriage, raised doubts Tuesday that the case is properly before them. Justice Anthony Kennedy, the potentially decisive vote on a closely divided court, suggested that the court could dismiss the case with no ruling at all.
