A cheerful, joking George Ryan says he feels "wonderful" after being released Wednesday from home confinement.
The former Illinois governor spoke outside his home in Kankakee, saying he felt good, physically and mentally.
The day marked the end of more than five years in federal custody for corruption. In January, the 79 year old was released from an Indiana prison and moved to confinement at his home.
Asked what he's doing now, Ryan says he's writing a book, but didn't elaborate.
The St Louis County Police Department has issued an Endangered Persons Advisory for a father and son who went missing yesterday.
A woman called police after he husband and 16-year-old son did not return from a fishing trip. Officers have searched the Mermec River in the area extensively, but have not uncovered evidence that the two men drowned. The missing men are 36-year-old Michael Hill and 16-year-old David Hill.
A pedestrian is severely injured after being struck by a hit and run driver.
The unidentified victim was hit at the intersection of Oak Forest Drive and Laura Hill Road in St. Charles around 4 PM. The driver sped away after hitting the pedestrian. The victim is listed in extremely critical condition.
ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Jordan Leopold on a two-year contract.
Leopold, 32, posted two assists in 15 regular season games with the Blues after the club acquired him from Buffalo on Mar. 31 last season. In addition, Leopold dressed in all six games for the Blues during the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Overall, the 6’1, 206-pound defenseman has appeared in 10 National Hockey League (NHL) seasons including stints with Calgary, Colorado, Florida, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and St. Louis. For his career, Leopold has registered 204 points (65 goals, 139 assists) and 268 penalty minutes in 625 regular season games as well as 16 assists in 65 postseason games.
The Golden Valley, Minnesota native was originally drafted by Anaheim in the 2nd round (44th overall) of the 1999 Entry Draft.
