Missouri Governor Jay Nixon announced appointments to eight boards and commissions today and among the appointees are three St. Louisans. Democrat Joseph Hunt has been named to the Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority. The authority oversees financing, design and construction of the St. Louis domed stadium/convention center expansion and administers annual Preservation Funding. The Governor has appointed a pair of Republicans to serve on the St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners. John King of St. Louis and John Maupin of Creve Coeur will serve on the board which conducts all public elections in St. Louis County.
Don't play with boiling hot water. That's the message from officials at St. Louis Children's hospital after two children were treated Tuesday for facial burns.
Hospital spokeswoman Abby Wuellner told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the pair had been injured when they threw a pot of boiling water into the air outside to see if it would turn to ice crystals or snow before hitting the ground.
The paper reports that interest in the at-home experiment has peaked since video of a Wisconsin weatherman doing it on Monday went viral.
