$10K reward offered in fatal Kirkwood hit & run

A $10,000 reward is being offered in hopes of catching the hit and run driver who killed a Kirkwood man.  The family of 50 year old Joe Auffenberg is offering the cash for information leading to a conviction.  St. Louis CrimeStoppers is also offering a reward of up to $1,000.
Auffenberg was stuck by a northbound vehicle late Sunday night as he crossed North Kirkwood Road near Bodley.
Police have released a gas station security camera image of a car that was in the area at the time.
Also, police are looking for a man who was shopping at the nearby Walgreens just before the accident.  Police stress that he's not a suspect, but a potential witness. The man is described as white, 45-60 years old, with gray hair and a white goatee.  He was wearing a tan jacket and St Louis Blues sweatshirt.
Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 866-371-8477. Tips can also be directed to the Kirkwood Police Department at 314-220-4094.

Police are hoping video surveillance cameras at nearby businesses will help lead them to the person who ran down a Kirkwood man late Sunday night, and kept going.
Police say 50 year old Joe Auffenberg was unconscious when rescue crews found him lying in the road in the 400 block of North Kirkwood Road, just south of Bodley Avenue.  He was rushed to the hospital, but died anyway.
Auffenberg's friends tell Fox 2 News he was a kind, caring man who shouldn't have been left to die in the street.
Now his friends and police are asking for the public's help to catch his killer. Anyone with information is asked to call Kirkwood Police 314-822-5858 or CrimeStoppers at 314-361-TIPS.

A tearful plea today from the grandmother of a two-year-old boy who was killed by a hit and run driver Sunday night in Spanish Lake. "Whoever you are, please have a conscience.  (sobs) And just come forward. My grandson did not deserve this."

St Louis County police say two-year-old Darion Griffin ran out into the street around  8 p.m. in the 1500 block of Redmond Road.  Witnesses told police that a white SUV with tinted windows was speeding eastbound on Redmond near Bellefontaine Road when it hit  the toddler and his 17-year-old aunt, Sheria Evans.   Police say Evans was trying to pull the child from the path of the vehicle. The SUV didn't stop.

Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where the boy was pronounced dead. The teen suffered minor injuries.

Anyone with information is urged to call St. Louis County Police.
