Assessed St. Louis home values expected to decline again
Friday, 08 February 2013 04:25 Published in Local NewsSt. Louis County's first elected assessor, Jake Zimmerman says preliminary computer models show values dipping slightly. Zimmerman told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that human assessors may tweak the figures after examining individual homes.
He says anyone whose assessed property value increases will be notified by mail right away so that there's plenty of time for an appeal before the bills go out in the fall.
Cardinals set to break ground on Ballpark Village

The $100 million project will include the Cardinal Nation structure with a two-story restaurant, Cardinal Hall of Fame museum, and rooftop deck seating with a view of Busch Stadium.
A live concert venue and brew house will also be included in the first phase, which is set to be completed by opening day of 2014.
Quinn signs off on extra roads, child abuse funding
Friday, 08 February 2013 02:54 Published in Local NewsGovernor Pat Quinn signed a supplemental appropriation bill Thursday evening that's meant to shore up parts of state government that are running short of money half-way through the budget year.
It includes $675 million in unanticipated federal and state money available for road projects this spring. It also shifts $25 million saved from Quinn's closure of correctional facilities to the Department of Children and Family Services.
Republicans have complained the bill was rushed.
