Ellisville officials are dropping some of the charges against their embattled mayor, Adam Paul.

Last week, the city council had adopted an 11 page impeachment document that charged Paul with violating the city's charter.

The charges also included swearing and drinking on the job. The council voted Wednesday night to drop those two charges from the impeachment proceedings.

City Attorney Paul Martin says he has evidence that both are true, but has learned that neither is an impeachable offense.

Mayor Paul refutes all of the charges, claiming they all stem from his disagreements with the council over a controversial Walmart TIF.

A 20-year-old man is dead after being struck by an Amtrak train in Pacific.

Police say the man was walking on the tracks when he was hit and killed around 8:45 last night at the North 4th Street crossing.

Amtrak officials confirm that the accident involved a train carrying 58 passengers en route from St. Louis to Kansas City.

No one on the train was hurt.

It looks like St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay is heading for an historic fourth term. With all 222 precincts reporting, Slay had won 54-percent of the vote to Aldermanic President Lewis Reed's 44 percent. After the election board informed the candidates, Reed called Slay to concede. Then Mayor Slay took the stage at his watch party at the Dubliner Pub on Washington Avenue to share the news with his supporters.

Slay will face Green Party candidate James McNeeley in the general election April 2nd. But the primary win is a defacto re-election for the mayor, since St. Louis voters haven't elected a non-Democrat since 1945. Fewer than 50-thousand people cast ballots in Tuesday's Democratic primary.
