A mother and father are on the run after police say they kidnapped their children from foster care.
St. Charles police say the pair took 1-year-old Trevion Dunn and 2-year-old Aleiyah Dunn sometime between Friday and Monday. Police believe they were taken by their mother, Cierra Dunn. Aleiyah's father, Jose Sanchez, might also be involved in the kidnapping.
They were last seen driving a 1998 Chevy Malibu with Missouri plates MK2-C0S. Police say they could be headed to Wisconsin or Mexico. The kids are in protective custody as part of an investigation into neglect issues. The parents had weekend visitation and officials could not contact them on Monday.
Anyone who believes they have seen the children are asked to contact the St. Charles Police Department at 636-949-3320.
As you go about your holiday shopping, you might notice a few more officers at area shopping centers.
St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch announced that the force is tasking additional resources to malls. Both uniformed and undercover officers will be in shopping centers while the Metro Air Support Unit will be keeping an eye on parking lots.
On an unrelated note, the County will also be placing an emphasis on DWI enforcement.
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Two neighbors and a police officer are credited with rescuing a disabled teen from a burning home in north St. Louis County.
Firefighters say the teen, who uses a wheelchair and can't talk, was trapped in the home when an apparent electrical fire broke out early Tuesday. The child's mother was in the room screaming for help moving the teen as the house filled with smoke.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that neighbors Kendall Wilkes and his cousin, Lamar Wilkes, crawled through the bedroom window and wrapped blankets around the girl before handing her out the window to a police officer who had just arrived. The officer wasn't identified.
The Wilkes cousins also then helped the mother get out through the same window. No injuries were reported.
