Body of Bellefountaine Neighbors man recovered after boat capsized
The bodies of two Missouri boaters are now been recovered after the men went missing on the Mississippi River near Hartford in southern Illinois.
Illinois conservation police said Monday that 46-year-old Wendell Robinson of Bellefontaine Neighbors, Mo., was found Sunday in the river at Cape Girardeau, Mo. The body of the other boater, 60-year-old Mike Flythe of St. Louis, was found April 21. Authorities say the men's boat capsized near where the Mississippi and Missouri rivers meet on April 6.
The Telegraph in Alton reports that Flythe's body was found about 15 miles away from the accident scene. Robinson's body was missing for 22 days and found about 100 miles away.
One boy was rescued after the accident.
Infant's body is found in Minn. hospital's linens
RED WING, Minn. (AP) — Police in southeastern Minnesota are investigating after an infant's body was discovered in linens from a St. Paul hospital.
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting early Wednesday that the body of a full-term infant fell out of a bedsheet Tuesday afternoon at an industrial laundry in the town of Red Wing.
Red Wing Police Chief Roger Pohlman says hospital workers had removed the body and linens from Crothall Laundry before his officers arrived. He declined to name the hospital but said his office is in contact with St. Paul police and the Ramsey County medical examiner.
Pohlman says the linens had been delivered to Crothall no longer than two days ago.
Wood River police ID victim of suspected heroin overdose
The (Alton) Telegraph reports that Kenneth Harris Jr.'s body was found Tuesday in a car parked in a bay of a car wash in Wood River.
Deputy Police Chief Mickey Sabolo says the investigation points to a heroin overdose as the cause of the man's death, and no foul play is suspected. Authorities say drug paraphernalia was found next to the victim, who Sabolo says appeared to have died alone.
An autopsy was conducted Tuesday, but results weren't released. Authorities are awaiting results of toxicology tests.
Children walking to school find body in East St. Louis
Children on their way to school this morning in East St. Louis made a gruesome discovery: a dead body laying in an open field. East St. Louis Police say the 52-year-old male victim was found shot to death around 7am near North 28th Street and Ohio Avenue.
The victim was reported missing by his family. Police are not releasing his identity but are treating the man's death as a homicide.
UPDATE: Ebony Jackson murder suspect in custody
Investigators believe Jackson was killed in the suspect's north city home, not far from where her body was found stuffed in the trunk of her own car. The paper reports that the suspect's current girlfriend lives in the apartment building where Jackson's baby was found.
Missing Lincoln County woman found dead
Authorities say just before noon Sunday, searchers found the body of 48 year old Jennifer Bogert in a creek less than a mile from her Eolia home.
The Lincoln County Sheriff says Bogert appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Sheriff's deputies and volunteers had been searching for Bogert after she failed to show up for work Friday morning.
Body found in Collinsville tentatively identified
The death of a man whose body as found in a ditch along a busy Collinsville road is being considered suspicious.
Fox 2 news reports a relative of the victim has identified the body as her missing brother, 23-year-old Anthony Conners of Collinsville. The family reported him missing yesterday morning.
His body was found face down around 6pm yesterday in a water-filled ditch by an off-duty police officer who had been out jogging near Beltline Road and Illinois Route 157.
Police believe the body could have been in the ditch since Sunday. Relatives say Conners was last seen Saturday night leaving a nearby Burger King.
UPDATE: Murdered woman's missing child found safe
Police had been looking for 30 month old Tiana McNeil since her mother's family told them they didn't know where she was. The body of 27 year old Tatiana McNeil had been found Tuesday afternoon in a weedy lot along the 9200 block of Riverview.
Police say early Thursday evening, a woman came forward and told them she'd been caring for the toddler for about two weeks, when Tatiana McNeil dropped her off. The woman, identified only as a close friend of the victim, told police that it wasn't unusual for Tatiana to leave the child with her for extended periods. Police also say that the woman didn't know her friend had been killed until media reports had aired about the missing girl.
The girl is now in the custody of her maternal grandmother. The search for her mother's killer continues.
