KC Highway Shooting Suspect Arrested

Kansas City police are crediting what they call "lots of tips" in the case of a series of highway shootings in that area over the past five weeks. Authorities raided a Grandview, Missouri residence Thursday afternoon and arrested a man suspected in those shootings that injured three people and put drivers on edge.

As many as 12 shootings have been linked to one suspect.  The name of the suspect has not been released and Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forté says more details will be released at a news conference today.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - One person is dead and another hospitalized after a shooting on Interstate 70 near Kansas City.  Kansas City, Kansas police say the shooting happened around 4 a.m. Monday.
 
Both victims went to the University of Kansas Hospital, where one died and the other was being treated for what police call critical injuries. Police released no information on a possible suspect.
 
The shooting come as authorities investigate a string of shootings at vehicles, many on interstate highway in the Kansas City area. But police did not say if Monday's shooting is related to the earlier incidents.

GLADSTONE, Mo. (AP) - An Amber alert is out for a 5-year-old girl who was taken from her father's home in a Kansas City suburb.

Gladstone police believe Lili Justine High was taken by her mother's friend, Tammi J. Lampkins, also known as Tammi J. Kelly.

Lili's father told police Lampkins stopped at his home Sunday evening. He says when he was briefly out of the room, Lampkins left with the girl.

Lampkins was driving a 1996 green four-door Mazda 626 with Missouri license plate SJ9JOU. It is extensively damaged on the passenger side.

Lili was wearing gray and red spandex pants, a yellow T-shirt and no shoes. She is missing her four front teeth.

Lampkins is 5 feet 4 inches tall, 116 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - About 30,000 people in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas woke up without power as heavy, wet snow hitting the region downed power lines.

Kansas City Power & Light reported at 6 a.m. Tuesday that just over 25,000 customers were without power. The outages stretched throughout the utility's service area from Emporia, Kan., to Sedalia, Mo., but the highest number of outages was in the Kansas City metro area.

BPU, which provides service in Wyandotte County on the Kansas side of the metro area was reporting about 7,600 customers without service. Westar Energy reported 8,900 outages throughout its Kansas region, which includes pockets near Kansas City. Westar's highest number of outages early Tuesday was in Greenwood and Douglas counties, which includes the Wichita area.
