Traffic will be moving a little smoother in downtown St. Louis this weekend. After nearly three months of construction and $5.5 million dollars, the Jefferson Avenue bridge will be open to traffic Friday night. The Missouri Department of Transportation says the bridge over I-64 will be open sometime around 8pm. However, there will be occasional lane closures for the next few weeks while crews put on the finishing touches. Also, the ramp from eastbound I-64 to southbound Jefferson Avenue will also remain closed until August 1st.

Grafton set to revive Mississippi River ferry

Friday, 19 July 2013 10:17 Published in Local News

GRAFTON, Ill. (AP) - A Mississippi River ferry service linking southwestern Illinois' Jersey County to Missouri's St. Charles County is about to be back in business after being shut down for more than two years.

The (Alton) Telegraph (http://bit.ly/1146MGq ) reports that the Grafton ferry will resume next Friday, thanks to dredging efforts that cleared out river silt that kept the service from operating.

Owned by the 670-resident city of Grafton northeast of St. Louis, the ferry had served as a key shuttle for motorists trying to cross the confluence of the Mississippi and Illinois rivers.

The ferry will operate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
