The former St. Charles County teacher who sexually assaulted a 10-year-old, will serve probation.
KMOV reports the victim's family did not want the case to go to trial and that led to the plea agreement. Joseph Maddock will serve five years of probation after pleading guilty to child molestation charges. The abuse happened in early 2013 after Maddock had convinced the boy's family to allow him to home school the child.
Maddock has previously taught at 10 schools in the St. Louis area.

ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- Authorities say the disappearance of a St. Charles man was part of a scheme to fake his own death and cover up allegations that he sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Raymond David Avett of St. Charles disappeared in June, leaving suicide notes at several locations, including inside his Ford Explorer that was found abandoned in downtown St. Louis. He turned up three weeks later in Maryland.
Avett and his former girlfriend, 34-year-old Jennifer L. Callaway, were both charged Wednesday with concealing a felony.
Authorities allege that Callaway coerced Avett into giving her his home, SUV, boat and life insurance in exchange for not telling police about the alleged sexual assault.
Both suspects are jailed, Avett on $250,000 bond, Callaway on $200,000 bond.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The case of three former U.S. Naval Academy football players accused of sexually assaulting a female midshipman at a crowded off-campus house is bringing fresh criticism and calls for greater accountability on academy leaders.
As the entire military faces scrutiny about how sexual assault cases are handled, some are focusing on the training ground for future military leaders as a natural starting point for addressing problem.
Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., wants to create a commission, partly to examine how well superintendents are addressing sexual assault.
The academy, meanwhile, is putting a greater emphasis on training to prevent sexual assault. It also has sent letters to people who open their homes to midshipmen to help the school stop students from renting or leasing off-campus homes.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A military hearing for three former Navy football players accused of sexual assault is set to resume after the alleged victim was given a day to rest.
Testimony was scheduled to continue Sunday morning at the Washington Navy Yard.
The hearing is being held to determine whether the three U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen will be court-martialed on the charges. It was postponed Saturday because the alleged victim said she was too fatigued to testify after a week of difficult cross-examination.
The woman, who is now a senior at the academy, allegedly was sexually assaulted at an April 2012 party after a night of heavy drinking. She says she doesn't remember having sex with the men.
