A relief fund is now accepting donations to benefit families affected by flooding in one part of southern Missouri.

The fund was established by the Meramec Regional Community Foundation. All donations will be directed toward relief efforts in Pulaski County. The hardest hit area was Waynesville--with a population of around 5,000. The initial donation was made by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.

In the first week of summer, the heat index is already flirting with triple digits.

Ameren Missouri is trying to help low-income and elderly customers stay safe in the heat--they are giving away air conditioner window units through charities. Ameren is donating 665 units to several organizations and agencies. 300 of the units are going to the Urban League of St. Louis.

To request one, city residents can call 314-615-3624 if you’re a city resident, and county residents should dial 314-388-9840.

It is the last day to donate items as part of the STL 4 OKC campaign.

Mayor Francis Slay, County Executive Charlie Dooley, and Rams Quarterback Sam Bradford were all on hand this week to announced the donation drive.

There are two drop off locations that open until 7 PM on Friday. The first location is at Loughborough Commons at I-55 and Loughborough.  The second location is at Kirkwood Commons at I-44 and Lindbergh.  Bradford will be at the Kirkwood Commons location between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Organizers are asking for any prepackaged items from pet food to hygiene products. The donations will be driven to Moore, Oklahoma this weekend.

Hazelwood Mayor Matt Robinson says volunteer groups and businesses have dropped off some precious supplies for residents.The United Way will also be on site today (Friday) to help coordinate volunteer and donation efforts.

On the Hazelwood School District’s Facebook page, they are letting people know what needs to be donated:
