Drivers in downtown St. Louis could encounter problems at the intersection of Washington and Jefferson.

MSD says a 150-year-old section of sewer pipe collapsed. The pipe was 20 feet underground, but opened up a hole in the road. A spokesperson with MSD tells KTRS, drivers should expect two lanes of Westbound Washington to remain closed for at least a few days, but there is no estimate on when work will be completed.

A day after a Normandy High School student died following an incident at the school, police are still trying to piece together what happened.

KMOV TV reports police say the 15-year-old student collapsed after another student, 14, reportedly struck him in the chest.

Officers say the interaction was believed to be friendly, and the students were simply horsing around. After the student collapsed, he was taken to St. Louis Children’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The incident was believed to have happened shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday. It is unknown if the student suffered from a preexisting medical condition that may have led to the collapse. Police are currently collecting statements from other student witnesses.

If your commute takes you near Hanley and Manchester Roads, you might want to try another way to get to your destination.

MSD crews are making emergency repairs to a major underground storm water sewer pipe that might have completely collapsed.

MSD says the 42-inch corrugated metal storm water sewer pipe runs under all lanes of Hanley Road. MSD says they first found out about it Tuesday when they got a report of a sinking roadway.

Each of Hanley's outside lanes are closed to traffic south of Manchester. Some 40,000 motorists travel on Hanley every day.

NEW DELHI (AP) — Police say they've arrested nine people, including builders, police officers and municipality officials, for colluding to illegally construct a residential building in India's financial capital that collapsed, killing 74 people.

Police commissioner K.P. Raghuvanshi says two builders were arrested for allegedly paying bribes to police and municipality officials to construct the eight-story building in the Mumbai suburb of Thane without any official sanction.

The building came crashing down on Thursday in the country's worst house collapse in recent decades.

Raghuvanshi said Sunday that police will formally charge the nine with culpable homicide and causing death by negligence at the end of an investigation into the accident.

If convicted, they can be sentenced to up to life in prison.
