The St. Louis Community College system has new leadership. Interim Chancellor Dennis Michaelis began his new job Monday.
The former Texas college officials was tapped to replace Myrtle Dorsey, who left in late September after the Board of Trustees voted not to renew her contract.
Michaelis told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he doesn't expect to hold the post for more than 18 months. He Said his focus will be on improving communications and rebuilding the public image of the system.
The college's image suffered a blow after the bungling of the investigation of a student assault on the Meramec campus in April became known.
George Wassen, president of the Meramec campus, resigned shortly after the attack. The police chief at Meramec and two other officials were fired.
