The Cardinal's will break ground today on phase one of the Ballpark Village development.

The team released new renderings of the development on Twitter yesterday.

The $100 million project will include the Cardinal Nation structure with a two-story restaurant, Cardinal Hall of Fame museum, and rooftop deck seating with a view of Busch Stadium.

A live concert venue and brew house will also be included in the first phase, which is set to be completed by opening day of 2014.

Hundreds of millions of dollars is on the way for Illinois road projects and child abuse investigators.

Governor Pat Quinn signed a supplemental appropriation bill Thursday evening that's meant to shore up parts of state government that are running short of money half-way through the budget year.

It includes $675 million in unanticipated federal and state money available for road projects this spring. It also shifts $25 million saved from Quinn's closure of correctional facilities to the Department of Children and Family Services.

Republicans have complained the bill was rushed.

Public school students in Missouri could soon be spending more time in the classroom. Right now, state law says school must be in session a minimum of 174 days and 1,044 hours each year.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon says he'd like to add six days to the school calendar. And southwestern Missouri Republican State Rep. Lyle Rowland is proposing the state base the requirement on hours, rather than both that and days...and he'd like to add another 29-36 hours to the minimum.

Some districts have expressed skepticism because of the added cost and conflicts with existing labor contracts.
