KTRS, St. Louis, MO - A Metro-east man is headed to prison connected to a fatal hit-and-run that happened near Cahokia last summer.
Kevin Powell was sentenced to five years in jail and five years of probation after his release. Powell was driving the car that hit and killed 9-year-old Fabian Teson. Fabian was riding his bike when he was hit. He was taken to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in critical condition and died two days later. Within a week investigators located the car that hit Fabian and traced it to Powell.
He was driving without a license at the time of the accident.
The frigid temperatures of last week are still causing problems for area residents.
A water main in west St. Louis County broke Tuesday morning and sent a plume of water 30 feet into the area. The main rupture is adjacent to the Bennington Heights Apartment near the Page Avenue Extension. Fox 2 reports that some residents were getting water into their apartment.
The shifting temperatures since last week's storm have cause dozens of water main breaks across the metro area.
