Some drivers may face a soggy, slow driver home because of a broken water main in downtown Clayton.

St. Louis County Police report that two southbound lanes of Hanley Road are closed between Carondelet Avenue and Bonhomme.

Police say they expect the lane restrictions to stay in place until after tomorrow's morning rush.  They're asking drivers to avoid the area.

A broken water main has shut down one lane of Eager Road in each direction between Hanley Road and I-170. The closures will stay in place through rush hour tonight. The affected area handles around 25,000 vehicles a day. Drivers are encouraged to find an alternate route.

The road is expected to be open by Wednesday morning rush.

The frigid temperatures of last week are still causing problems for area residents.

A water main in west St. Louis County broke Tuesday morning and sent a plume of water 30 feet into the area. The main rupture is adjacent to the Bennington Heights Apartment near the Page Avenue Extension. Fox 2 reports that some residents were getting water into their apartment.

The shifting temperatures since last week's storm have cause dozens of water main breaks across the metro area.

Students in the Normandy School District are getting an unexpected three-day weekend thanks to a water main that burst near the UMSL campus Thursday.

The main has been repaired, but a boil order is in effect for about 2,200 Missouri American water customers.  That includes parts of Bel Ridge, Belle Rive, Bel Nor, Normandy and St. John.

As a result, all schools in the Normandy School District will be closed Friday.

Other schools in the affected area are open, but school leaders are asking students to bring a bottle of drinking water with them.

The UMSL campus had shut down on Thursday because of the break, canceling day and evening classes. University officials say even though they are still under a boil order, classes will resume Friday morning.

Missouri American officials say they hope to life the boil order Friday afternoon.

St. Louis City Water and Street crews are being credited for their fast work after a water main break in downtown.

The pipe burst in the early afternoon. Water crews were forced to dig out a large hole in the middle of Clark Street in front of the police headquarters. Work was initially planned to carry into the night, causing traffic problems as fans head downtown for the Cardinals and Blues games.

Instead, crews repaired the main and placed steel plates over the hole so they could reopen the road. Work to fill in the hole will happen at a later time.

St. Charles and St. Peter's boil order lifted

The boil and water conservation order for St. Charles and St. Peters residents has been lifted this morning.  A water main break in a secondary supply line from St. Louis was discovered on Friday.  It was repaired, but the boil and conservation order remained in effect until the water could be tested and the water pressure regulated. More than 120-thousand customers in eastern and central St. Charles County were affected. Missouri American Water customers were not affected.

Officials say there is a large water main break in the secondary supply line from St. Louis city. Crews are already on the scene making repairs. Customers in St. Peters and St. Charles are asked to use water only for essential needs until the situation is resolved.

Activities that should be discontinued include watering the lawn, washing cars, and other outside uses.

A water main break will cause lengthy delays in Maplewood tonight.

A water main ruptured below Big Bend immediately north of Manchester Road. The break has forced the closure of Big Bends two, "through" lanes. Drivers will still be able to continue southbound on Big Bend across Manchester, but will have to share a lane that is normally dedicated to left turns onto Manchester.

Officials say about 25,000 cars and trucks drive this section of Big Bend everyday. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area this evening.
