UPDATE: One in custody, two at large after rolling gun battle
Police believe the incident started about 4:30 p.m. at North Kingshighway and Natural Bridge Avenue when two men in a burgundy Ford Fusion fired shots at another car.
A short time later, police were called to North Broadway and Pine after shots were reported in the area. They arrived to find a silver car that had crashed, and bullet holes in the window of a nearby job placement center.
The 25 year old man who'd been driving the silver car was arrested. Police are still looking for the men in the burgundy Ford.
UPDATE: Man killed by St. Louis Police during Mardi Gras identified
Witnesses told police that Roberson had been brawling with another man and then pulled a gun, firing at least one shot into the air.
St. Louis Police Lt. Col. Lawrence O’Toole says two St. Louis police officers had been patroling nearby when they heard the shot. When arrived, the officers ordered Roberson to drop his gun, but instead he turned and pointed the weapon at police. O'Toole says both officers fired several shots, striking Roberson. The North County man later died at the hospital.
Mardi Gras Inc. spokesman Mack Bradley praised the officers for acting appropriately. Both officers had been working for Mardi Gras Inc. under a secondary employment agreement allowing police to work extra jobs during their off hours. Both are veterans with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, one with 22 years on duty and the other with 33 years on the force. Both have been placed on routine administrative leave.
This is the first fatal shooting in the Soulard festival's 34 year history.
St. Louis police reported that 80 people were arrested during the Mardi Gras celebrations in Soulard Saturday. Seventy-six of them were juveniles arrested for consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Police search for man accused of shooting, killing woman in O'Fallon, MO home
Police say Terry Culberson shot 55-year-old Dorothy Hall several times. Officers responded to the house at 5:15 PM after being called to check in on the woman. That is where they found her body. During their investigation, police learned that Culberson had made threats against Hall and her family on Monday.
Culberson has a previous conviction for assault with intent to kill and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Police connect bank robbery suspect to three robberies
The suspect wore a wig and heavy makeup in Monday's robbery. He has also been connected to a December 14 robbery in south county, and the January 30 First Bank robbery in Town and Country. Police are asking anyone with information to call it in so they can capture this serial bank robber.
Missouri looking to restrict police use of drones
The American Civil Liberties Union says state legislators are proposing various restrictions on the new technology.
The Montana Senate looked at two bills Tuesday that hinder the use of drones, most often associated with overseas wars.
The chamber is preparing to give initial approval to one bill that bans information collected by drones from being used in court. It also would bar local and state government ownership of drones equipped with weapons.
The 10 other states with active legislation are California, Oregon, Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, North Dakota, Florida, Virginia, Maine and Oklahoma.
